Start playing with your dog now!
Want to learn to play Frisbee with your dog?
If you've watched other people connecting with their dogs and having a blast playing disc and thought "I'd like to do that!"...
This course is for you!
We'll help you get your dog or even your new puppy up to speed and safely chasing down the disc in no time. We'll show you how to choose a safe disc for your dog, teach you how to throw, get your dog to chase and catch the disc, and give you all the information you need to jump into this fun new sport with your best buddy!
In the Dog training section you'll learn the essential things to teach your dog to help them become a disc beast! The 5 Pillars video outlines the 5 things that happen every time you play - and how to develop them. In the Steps for Building a Disc Dog lesson I will show you step by step how to get a dog or puppy to engage with the disc and turn enthusiasm into skill.
Whether you have a new puppy or an adult dog you want to get started, you have to choose the proper disc for them to play with. We'll look at all kinds of discs and help you decide which is the best one for your dog.
One of the most important considerations when learning disc is Safety! I'll give you the top 5 Safety tips to help keep your dog or puppy safe! I'll also provide some guidance for the popular question "How long should our practice sessions be?"
The 5 Puppy Tips will get your little ball of fur playing safely and having fun right off the bat!
The Throwing section will get you tossing plastic like a pro!
You'll learn the right way to throw the most common Disc Dog throw, the Backhand. We'll go over everything from properly gripping the disc, to rotating your hips and footwork. You'll also master a Forehand Throw, a Pizza Toss, the important Wrist Flick Throw, and I will show you best way to throw a Roller (which is the BEST throw to use to build drive and the number one throw for puppies to keep them safe). I also teach you my favorite throwing exercise to improve your accuracy.
Building connection is super important, so together, you and your dog will learn the 3 main commands every Disc Dog needs, and we'll look at Flatwork and how to teach and use the Disc Dog Go Around. Plus I'll show you my two favorite methods for Building Drive in your dog. If your dog is not super excited about the disc these methods will help fire them up!
I will explain the 4 types of games you can play with your dog, and go over how competitions work. I'll go over which Disc Dog organizations offer which games for you to play, and even show you step by step how to get signed up for your very first competition!

Hi, I’m Jeff Scheetz. I love teaching people how to get better at Disc Dogging almost as much as I love playing myself. (shhh.. don’t tell my dogs!)
I’ve spent most of my life as an educator. I’ve taught thousands of people how to play guitar, and many more how to get better at any skill they wanted with my acclaimed SMART Practice book. I think what makes me a good teacher is that first and foremost I consider myself a lifelong student! I love to learn and figure things out and am constantly challenging myself to find ways to get better.
Although I have been fortunate enough to win many Disc Dog events with my amazing dogs, what I find super exciting is helping other people improve their skills and then seeing them connect with their dogs like I have.
My teaching philosophy is to take the complex, break it down into small parts and make it easy to understand. If you can practice these small parts you can see real improvement to the whole!
I've put all my teaching methods and knowledge to work in creating this course. I know all the lessons, tips, exercises and info presented in this course will help you achieve your goals!
